Position Overview:

The role of a Graduate Research Assistant (GA) within the Public Health Department is to support the Enhancing Services and Decreasing Stress for Caregivers and the Persons with Dementia (PWD) in their Care” project team faculty and staff to evaluate and support the DoAS Aging project. Note that a team of 3-5 students will be responsible for many of the activities of data collection, analysis and dissemination of results.

 Main Responsibilities:

  • Gain the CITI certification for the research project and confidential requirements before join the research team; 

  • Support the DoAS Aging project team to prepare the IRB package; 

  • Complete a literature review to identify the best instruments, current practise, etc; 

  • Support the DoAS research/grant project evaluation activities, and other activities if needed; 

  • Complete training in all research protocols and interventions; 

  • Complete a confidentiality agreement;

  • Collecting qualitative and quantitative (focus groups, Key Informant Interviews and field observations– Stress Busters training and Caretakers/Persons with Dementia) and/or quantitative (Qualtrics) with undergraduate RAs. 

  • Clean and manage the datasets and transcribe interviews; 

  • Conduct the basic data analysis, prepare the graphs and tables; 

  • Present the research findings to DoAS team; 

  • Prepare/Assist the dissemination of the findings, such as abstract, manuscripts, quarterly reports, etc.; 

  • Supervise the undergraduate students who are assisting with this project; and 

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
