SUMMARY OF POSITION: Zoo Knoxville will host Smoky Night Lights, a 98-night immersive light show experience. During this experience, Event Support Associates will function as an Usher, a key role in welcoming guests, ensuring safety, and creating a fun, memorable atmosphere throughout the event. Event Support Associates provide exceptional customer service, assist with crowd flow, and support the success of Zoo Knoxville’s evening events. This position will also provide support for Zoo Knoxville’s annual Boo at the Zoo event as well. All scheduled hours associated with these two events will be in the evenings, ranging from 4:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a team member, exemplify Zoo Knoxville’s Core Values (Care, Respect, Serve, Integrity, Educate, Fun) through interactions with guests and fellow team members.
Deliver excellent guest experience by greeting guests, answering questions, and providing event information in a courteous and professional manner.
Serve as an ambassador for both Smoky Night Lights and Zoo Knoxville brands, by sharing about the experience in an inspiring way.
Assist with wayfinding, crowd control, and line management to ensure smooth guest flow and during high traffic periods.
Support show operations such as entry/exit of experience and general guest assistance.
Provide parking support as needed.
Follow and enforce all Zoo policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Work outdoors-sitting and standing in varying weather conditions and temperatures, remaining enthusiastic and guest-focused.
Take pride in your area by maintaining appearance and cleanliness of all work areas and other public areas.
Dress appropriately, based on Zoo personal appearance and dress code policy.
Potential to cross train in Admissions/Attractions positions as needed.
Assist with other evening events such as Boo at the Zoo as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must demonstrate and promote team atmosphere while supporting a friendly and efficient workforce, while working with a diverse group of people.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Must be dependable, honest and have a positive attitude.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Must be able to work outside in varying temperatures and conditions.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
The ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms, verbally communicate, and use hands- while interacting with guests.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
As an employee of Zoo Knoxville, you must possess English communication skills as well as the ability to communicate using a 2-way radio, email, and telephone. The position hours vary depending on business needs and will require weekend and some holiday shifts. Depending on the specific tasks, this position will be required to work within close proximity of exotic and domestic animals and must be aware that there are dangers inherent in working under those conditions.
