The position of the Building Supervisor is to assist the ADM Community School District Activities Department and Buildings and Grounds Department in the supervision of events on the campus of the Adel DeSoto Minburn Community School District.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Responsible for unlocking district facilities and required spaces for events and / or outside groups.
Performs all set up tasks required for event / programs including set-up of chairs, tables, audio / video equipment, and athletic playing area requirements.
Responds to issues, complaints and emergencies and takes appropriate action.
Ensures facility users follow district facility use guidelines.
Communicates facility clean up and damages to Activities Director and/or Director of Building and Grounds.
Assists in providing information, giving directions and taking attendance of events / classes.
Maintains facility cleanliness of facilities in use.
Assesses the threat of inclement weather and its possible effect on events.
Ensures facility security during events and after event completion.
Performs all tear down tasks for event / programs, returning facilities to their original state.
Other duties as assigned by the Activities Director and/or Director of Building and Grounds.
Qualifications & Skills:
High School Graduate.
Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa Driver’s license
Demonstrate aptitude for performing tasks listed with attention to detail.
Present as a role model for young people demonstrating professional entices and positive demeanor
Individual must possess great communication and organizational skills and be comfortable working with the general public, staff and volunteers.
Knowledge of computer systems and other technical elements used to enhance programming in a recreational program in a school / community setting
Ability to safely use maintenance tools and equipment safely
Ability to utilize spreadsheet, database and word processing programs and selected job-related software to include websites
Ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where significant standardization exists
Ability to identify problems, recognize symptoms, causes and alternative solutions Ability to make timely and sound decisions
Terms of Employment:
At-Will, Non-Exempt Employee
12-month position (260 days, 8 hours/day)
Employment subject to Board Policies and Administrative Rules
Evaluated by the Business manager
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, and typically involves contact with the students, staff, and the general public.
Schedules may be irregular involving night and/or weekend meetings and programs
Work may also involve exposure to chemicals and heat/cold.
Physical requirements:
Individual to talk/hear, stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, climb/balance, reach with hands and arms, and routinely lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
