Job Title:         Temporary Professional – Central Office     Wage/Hour Status: $25.00 Hourly (M-F)

Reports to:      Deputy Superintendent                              

Dept./School:  Curriculum and Instruction

TRS Fees will be deducted if employed more than 4.5 months                 

Primary Purpose:

 Work as a capacity builder by providing systemic support of South San Antonio ISD’s strategic design, vision, mission, and goals. Provide curricular, instructional, and programmatic leadership for all core content programs and services district-wide. Collaborate with directors in the Division of Academics and directors/staff from other district divisions to create systems that support principals and teachers’ growth and development. Ensure collaboration between content and district programs to provide effective implementation, seamless learning, and support for campus personnel. Ensure that all district initiatives and programs are implemented in collaboration with campus leadership and have appropriate evaluation measures to assess program effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Texas assistant principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of school operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coordinate campus and department support operations

 

Experience:

  • Two years experience as a classroom teacher

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Implement the district’s Strategic Design’s specific objectives
  2. Initiate and sustains partnerships with campus leaders
  3. Lead and participates in redesigning student-centered learning environments district-wide
  4. Build enthusiasm and collaboration throughout the district and community
  5. Use leadership coaching skills to develop team members
  6. Manage budgets judiciously and proficiently
  7. Provide oversight and support for Instructional Coach program at elementary campuses in collaboration with campus administration
  8. Supervise and support the professional growth and vertical support goals of Academic Facilitators in collaboration with campus administration
  9. Provide district leadership and oversight of all curriculum development and design, including district assessments, based on the most current research in order to accomplish curricular goals that positively impact instructional delivery
  10. Research innovative practices inside and outside of educational settings prior to making recommendations and taking action
  11. Participate in campus support visits and provide timely, targeted feedback to administration and campuses via appropriate documentation forms
  12. Analyze district and campus data to identify areas of need in order to research, plan, and implement appropriate staff/professional development
  13. Provide support and oversight for summer school and intervention program initiatives in conjunction with Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction
  14. Provide support for implementation of Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System district-wide
  15. Provide oversight and support for New Teacher Mentor programming

 

Professional Duties and Obligations:

  1. Follow the direction established by the superintendent and Board of Trustees.
  2. Adhere to district procedures, guidelines, and policies.
  3. Prepare, maintain, and present all information, reports, and records as required.
  4. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  5. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  6. Meet task completion deadlines established by the supervisor.
  7. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications, i.e., e-mail, written, and verbal.
  8. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional standing, walking, climbing, crouching, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting, lifting-lower 1-15 lbs.
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Sensory ability needs-significant; hearing, near vision, peripheral vision color distinction, depth perception
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: Frequent district-wide and state-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours, Physical Exposure: frequent cold and heat
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; Supervise and evaluate the performance of departmental staff; ability to communicate (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain emotional control under stress.
