Job Title: Head of Student Recruitment & Admissions 
Department: Marketing and Communications
Salary:  £44,667- £46,910 per year
Job Type: Permanent, full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide leadership and accountability for student recruitment and admissions activity, ensuring alignment with the College’s strategic priorities.
  2. Plan, implement, and evaluate student recruitment and admissions strategies that achieve enrolment targets and meet quality expectations.
  3. Lead the development and embedding of the newly created admissions attraction function, setting standards and ensuring the service delivers personalised engagement and improved conversion.
  4. Manage and lead the admissions experience from inquiry through to enrolment, ensuring smooth, efficient and innovative applicant engagement.
  5. Manage and develop the Student Recruitment and Admissions team, including Admissions Coordinators, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and ensuring professional standards.
  6. Work in partnership with the Head of Student Administration to align admissions with wider student services and enrolment processes.
  7. Coordinate with the Head of Marketing and Communications to ensure recruitment campaigns and events translate effectively into applicant attraction and admissions outcomes.
  8. Collaborate with key college stakeholders to ensure smooth transition from admission to enrolment.
  9. Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring all admissions practices are fair, transparent, and inclusive.
  10. Lead the effective use of CRM and admissions systems, driving improvements in applicant tracking, data insight, and service delivery.
  11. Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, data protection, equality legislation, and funding regulations.
  12. Act as the lead for admissions, representing the function internally and externally, ensuring the College maintains and enhances its established reputation as The College for Business.

  • To support cross college actives as required, particularly during key enrolment and invigilation periods.
  • Carry out any other relevant and appropriate duties as determined by the needs of the service and as appropriate to the grade.

Due to the changing nature of our work, this role profile serves as a framework to outline the main areas of responsibility. You may be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within the remit of your area of work.



Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential Criteria: 
  1. Significant experience in student recruitment and/or admissions within an educational setting or comparable setting. 
  2. Demonstrable commitment to equality and inclusion and acknowledgment of the importance of this within an outstanding recruitment and admissions service. 
  3. Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team, with clear accountability for performance. 
  4. Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  5. Exceptional organisational and project management skills. 
  6. Proficiency with CRM systems and data analysis tools. 
  7. Strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service. 
  8. Ability to adapt to sector changes and innovate in recruitment practices. 
  9. Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks for admissions. 
  10. Degree or equivalent experience, with commitment to ongoing professional learning. 
  11. Ability to build positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders. 

Desirable Criteria: 
  1. Evidence of innovation in designing or leading new services or processes. 
  2.  Knowledge of FE and HE systems, pathways, and qualifications.
