The Role

Purpose of the role
As our Learning and Development leader, you will lead our learning and development strategy, designing and implementing learning solutions that will shape how our people grow and thrive, genuinely boosting performance, engagement, and capability across Laminar Projects. Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll ensure our people's learning aligns with real business priorities while fostering a culture where development is part of everyday work. From introducing new learning and training systems to driving key projects, this is your chance to make learning impactful and meaningful.

Team
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll play a key part in establishing a strong and scalable L&D function. You’ll manage our learning and training team as well as work alongside our fantastic, in-house clinical psychology team.
From day one, you’ll have close support from the CEO to help set direction and build the foundations for long-term success.

Your top 3 objectives
·         Lead the design and delivery of our L&D initiatives
·         Implement training and learning solutions that create measurable impact
·         Commit to growing yourself and supporting the growth of those around you

Your top 5 responsibilities
·         Design & deliver: Create learning initiatives that address today’s needs and prepare us for tomorrow’s growth.
·         Shape the strategy: Support the development of an L&D approach that fuels a people-first culture.
·         Measure impact: Track key learning metrics and share what’s working (and what’s not) with leadership, so that we can improve.
·         Collaborate across teams: Make sure learning is relevant, connected, and embedded throughout the organisation.
·         Lead the team: Inspire, guide, and develop your team to create a high-performing learning culture.

Your Capabilities
You’re adaptable and hands-on, able to move between planning, delivery, coaching, and continuous improvement, always to help people do their best work.

Must-Have (The fundamentals)
·         Mastery:  You have solid experience in learning and development (at least 5+ years) with 3+ years in a leadership or management role (you will be leading a team of 6+, capable individuals). You’ve designed and delivered organisation-wide learning programmes and know how to make them stick. You’re comfortable with learning technologies, LMS platforms, and modern digital learning tools, and you understand how adults actually learn.
·         Our ideal candidate should also have either a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Behavioural Science, Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology or any related L&D field
·         Communication: You’re a clear, engaging communicator who can make complex ideas simple and exciting. Whether presenting to senior leaders or coaching a team member, you know how to connect and get people on board.
·         Leadership: You lead with people in mind. You support, guide, and motivate those around you. You can prioritise what matters, keep projects moving, and create a positive space where learning thrives.
·         Impact: You make the work you deliver matter. You track outcomes, learn from what you see, and implement real improvements.

Nice to Have
·         Mastery: A PhD in Behavioural Science, Organisational Psychology, Educational Psychology or related L&D field; professional certifications (CIPD, ATD, or equivalent); experience measuring training ROI and using learning analytics.
·         Communication: You can confidently influence at senior level and adapt your style for different audiences.
·         Leadership: You’re curious about growing into bigger roles as we scale, and you enjoy mentoring others along the way.
·         Impact: High profile and complex implementation experience in change management or organisational development is a bonus - we’re a growing company, so things move fast!

Laminar isn’t the place for you if any of the following is true:
-   You want an easy, chilled-out role without much challenge
-   You like to be the smartest person in the room
-   You don’t like continuously receiving honest candid feedback
-   You prefer to do your own thing rather than work with a team

At Laminar we value diverse experiences and perspectives, empowering each member to contribute their unique expertise towards our collective success, so if you don’t think you meet all the criteria but still are excited about this role we encourage you to apply anyways!
