This position provides direction and leadership in relation to employee and project safety for Pence Kelly. The Senior Field Safety Manager is responsible for assisting the Safety Director in building a positive safety culture in the field through building relationships, guidance, support and training. The Senior Field Safety Managers will fill in for the Safety Director when and where needed.

Leadership

Duties
·  Assist the Safety Director in implementing compliance to the Safety Program.
·  Provide direct supervision and support to Field Safety Managers; Indirect supervision of Site Safety Managers and Safety Foreman
·  Assist the Project Superintendent in implementing jobsite compliance to the Pence Kelly Safety Program, the Pence Kelly Site Specific Safety Plan as well as the Subcontractors Site Specific Safety Plan.  
·  Attend Pre-Construction Meetings and other relevant project-related meetings to discuss safety related matters.  
·  Support in analysis and development of safety programs, make recommendations for improvement. 
·  Develop and implement new safety procedures to support the vision of safety.
·                 Make jobsite safety observations. Document job hazards, unsafe conditions or unsafe practices on individual jobsites by employees and subcontractors through written reports.
·  Assist in determining proper personal protective equipment needs for worker and jobsite. 
·  Lead in accident and incident investigations as necessary and recommend corrective actions 
·  Communicate and furnish employees and/or jobsite(s) with correct OSHA safety standards, regulations and interpretations. 
·  Assist in ongoing evaluation of safety rules, as some may need to be deleted, changed or added as situations and rules change. 
·                 Attend OSHA jobsite inspections. 
·  Visit and inspect sites regularly
·  Work with project teams to eliminate any job hazards, unsafe conditions or unsafe practices identified in the inspections.
·  Build trust and positive relationships with the field crews and Superintendents
·  Assists field crews in developing a comprehensive Pre-Task Plan for the tasks they are executing 
·                 Time split between jobsites and office. (define by using percentages)
·  Help develop programs and periodically conduct meetings (Foreman, Quarterly Safety, Superintendent meetings)
·                 Participate in the Safety Committee
·  Assist Superintendents in developing and safely executing written Fall Protection Plans. 
·  Assist Superintendents in developing site specific safety orientations for employees and subcontractors. 
·                 Assist supervisors in recognition of hazards 
·                 Assist supervisors in training employees as required. Provide safety training sessions for supervisors and employees. 
·  Stay current on OR-OSHA, Federal OSHA, and the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) in Washington state and other safety-related standards. 
·                 Assist Safety Director in updating safety manuals as required.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the job but are not all inclusive.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Certification (CHST or other) 
  • 6 to 8 years of safety management experience preferred
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to interact successfully with field staff, subcontractors, OSHA, and executives. 
  • Must have excellent communication and organization skills 
  • Strong Construction background
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of construction procedures and principles
  • Current knowledge and understanding of Federal OSHA, OR-OSHA and DOSH standards 
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 502 
  • Excellent Computer Skills 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
