Job Summary: The Sanitation Lead will be responsible for ensuring a safe and clean working environment in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements. This role will supervise and coordinate the Sanitation Shift personnel and ensure that daily assignments are completed. Work as a team member with other department supervisors/managers to enforce the Food Safety Program and coordinate with the QC Department to ensure that corrective actions regarding sanitation are accomplished to ensure that the highest quality product is being provided to our customers.

Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment and enforce company policies.
- Lead by example, provide direction, and assist with training new employees on chemical use, GMP, and job procedures.
- Oversee sanitation and housekeeping personnel, assign daily tasks, and document work in the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Coordinate daily sanitation activities, equipment setup, changeovers, boil-outs, and maintain cleanliness throughout the plant.
- Manage used oil operations, including filtering, storage, inventory, and logging; use a pallet jack or forklift as needed.
- Monitor and maintain chemical and sanitation supply inventory, equipment, and tools; track usage.
- Perform caustic and water boil-outs, wash corn, and sanitize processing areas.
- Inspect completed work, identify deficiencies, and provide recommendations.
- Maintain logs and records, including the Master Sanitation Schedule, oil log, training logs, weekly safety reports, and kosher certification documentation.
- Assist with technical questions, resolve problems, and communicate issues with Managers and other departments.
- Serve as backup to the supervisor and backfill sanitation work when necessary.
- Participate in plant emergencies, drills, and safety procedures; operate fire extinguishers if required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing and updating SSOPs and proposing new sanitation ideas.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department and plant operations.
Requirements
- Basic English required; Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Be able to read and follow written procedures
- Proven attention to detail, responsible, mature, self-motivated
- A high school diploma or equivalent is a plus
- Must be able to rotate shifts if required and back up co-workers when needed, including weekends. Sunday work is required.
- Must have Food Safety experience and sanitation standards pertaining to food manufacturing.
- Ability to work around the regular shift schedule, shift-based on production needs, including weekends.
- Understand that weekends are the primary days for sanitation and must be available for wash-downs.
- Forklift certified, primarily to move oil totes.

- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors
- Twisting, turning, kneeling, stooping, and bending most of the day
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to spices (allergens), including but not limited to soy and wheat
- Exposure to high noise levels and a high-heat environment
PPE - Hair and beard net, chemical-resistant and anti-slippery rubber boots, safety glasses, face shield, earplugs, bump hard cap, chemical-resistant overalls and gloves with long sleeves, and apron.
Schedule: 2nd Shift (1:00 pm - 9:30 pm)*Sundays are required due to wash downs*Flexible/Weekly changing schedule.
