WQAD News 8, the TEGNA ABC affiliate serving the Quad Cities, is seeking a Temporary Photographer/Editor to support our sports team throughout football and basketball season.

We are looking for a versatile visual journalist who thrives in the fast-paced world of local sports and can deliver compelling video content for television, digital, and social media platforms. The ideal candidate is experienced in shooting and editing sports highlights, confident in running live shots, and comfortable collaborating with anchors, reporters, and producers under tight deadlines.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Shoot high-quality video of football and basketball games, practices, and related events for use in sportscasts and digital platforms.
  • Edit video content with speed, accuracy, and creativity to meet same-day deadlines.
  • Run live shots for anchors and reporters, using Dejero or other IP-based transmission tools.
  • Collaborate with the sports team and producers to create engaging and timely sports coverage.
  • Maintain gear, ensuring equipment is ready for field and studio use.
  • Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends during football and basketball season.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 1–3 years of professional experience in television news, sports, or live event coverage preferred.
  • Strong non-linear editing skills (EDIUS or similar system preferred).
  • Knowledge of composition, lighting, and audio recording in dynamic sports environments.
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. of gear; occasional lifting up to 80 lbs. with or without accommodation.
Pay Range
$20$20 USD
