The Manufacturing Maintenance and Repair Manager is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all production and material handling equipment.

This is a key position at the Lighthouse. It is critical for the individual in this position to be a team player, able to work with employees at all levels to solve equipment issues and facility issues related to manufacturing operations. This individual will be responsible for the overall functionality, appearance, improvements and security of our New Orleans manufacturing and production equipment, maintenance team, tools and tool rooms. Proven leadership, mechanical knowledge and team development capabilities are critical to the success of this role.

The Manufacturing Maintenance and Repair Manager will be responsible for the following core job duties:

  1. Responsible for the proper operation of all production equipment.
  2. Supervise equipment maintenance and repair personnel.
  3. Supervise / Perform maintenance, repairs, and improvements to production equipment. Production related repairs have the highest priority.
  4. Learn and understand the basic operating principles of critical production equipment.
  5. Maintain tools, spare parts, tool and supply rooms and support literature in an organized, secure manner.
  6. Responsible for all tools and spare parts.
  7. Collaborate with all production leadership and personnel.
  8. Maintain and inspect hourly, daily, weekly, monthly per manufactures maintenance schedules all critical support equipment such as, but not limited to, air compressors, vacuum pumps, air dryers, and related equipment.
  9. Maintain comprehensive maintenance log.
  10. Manage maintenance and repairs of forklift fleet as needed.
  11. Work with production to facilitate changes to production equipment as necessary to produce specific products, upgrades, efficiencies or enhancements.
  12. Evaluate and provide recommendations regarding new production and support equipment
  13. Develop relationships and contacts that will facilitate the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  14. Investigate and recommend improvements to equipment that will increase reliability and efficiency.
  15. Partner with production to schedule routine maintenance as required for equipment in a way that has the least impact on production as possible.
  16. Assist with equipment moves and re-locations.
  17. Lead Process Improvement opportunities.
  18. Keep work areas around equipment, tool room, and shop clean, organized and properly stocked at all times.
  19. Evaluate and seek CEO approval for maintenance agreements and manage all maintenance agreements as needed once established.
  20. Work on special projects as assigned.
  21. Assist other staff with maintenance requests when possible.
  22. Suggest and apply cost saving principles whenever possible.
  23. Work closely with the Quality and Safety Manager to maintain a safe work environment.
  24. Procure the materials necessary for the operation of the department and maintain accurate records of all purchases and maintenance schedules.
  25. Be proactive in ensuring that acceptable safety and health standards are met within the department and take initiative to train employees in proper safety and health practices as necessary.
  26. Manage maintenance staff providing feedback and opportunities for growth as appropriate for each individual.
  27. Serve as a member of the Emergency On-Call Team during non-scheduled hours and respond to emergencies as necessary.
  28. Conduct all business in a positive, relationship building manner at all times.
  29. Responsible for maintenance department’s adherence to all ISO procedures.
  30. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Requirements

  1. Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  2. Special Knowledge/Skills: Extensive knowledge and skills in all areas of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair for machinery.
  3. Experience: Three to five years’ experience in industrial machinery maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, safety, and security. Strong managerial or team supervisory experience required.
  4. Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for Maintenance and Repair team, facility, equipment manufacturers relationship and/or contractors. Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees. Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Positive communication with focus on creating a Culture of Care environment a must.
  5. Physical: Able to lift 60 lbs., or more, bend, stoop, climb, stand, and walk on a regular basis. Able to travel throughout the facility to safely and effectively manage all work responsibilities, breaks and emergency evacuations.
  6. Personality Traits: Effective communicator and problem solver, congenial, detail-oriented, and organized.
  7. Working Conditions: Inside and outside, office, manufacturing facility. Must also have a valid, up-to-date driver’s license and proof of insurance. Ability to travel off site for training if required to learn from equipment manufacturers.
  8. Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/ Salaried.
  9. Background Check and Drug Test Required: Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.
