JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Teaching Assistant
The Teaching Assistant provides a range of support to students which includes providing direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher. 

Immediate Supervisor: Building Administrator

Qualifications:

1. Hold valid New York State School certificate as a Teaching Assistant
2. Flexibility to meet the needs of a range of student learners
3. Ability to work effectively with a variety of staff
4. Strong communication skills
5. Proven success working with students
6. Strong organizational and planning skills
7. Willingness to work as a member of a team and ability to support District goals and direction.
8. Proven success in working with groups to problem-solve 
9. Ability to follow directives (oral, written, electronic)
10. Operate in a respectful, responsible manner

1. Works with students in groups or individually.
2. Gathers pertinent student data and provides information to school personnel as requested concerning students.
3. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors, school psychologist, social workers, and related service providers regarding students.
4. Participates in planning and providing direction instruction for students under the guidance of the classroom teacher. 
5. Gathers pertinent student data as requested.
6. Provides general classroom support.
7. Attends meetings as needed.
8. Follows students plans.
9. May perform student supervisory responsibilities as needed.
10. May be assigned other related Teaching Assistant – level responsibilities.
