Job Description:

At ALTEN Ltd, we partner with world-leading aerospace innovators to deliver complex engineering solutions that keep the industry moving forward. We are currently seeking experienced Manufacturing Operations Lead Engineers to join our teams in either Bristol or Derby. In this role, you will be at the heart of aerospace production programmes, supporting the transition from design to manufacture, driving efficiency, and ensuring the highest levels of quality and compliance. This is an opportunity to make a measurable impact on major aerospace programmes while working within a collaborative, technically demanding environment.

Location: Bristol or Derby
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time with On-Site Presence
Clearance: Must hold full right to work in the UK, potential to be BPSS cleared.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations within aerospace manufacturing, supporting production teams, suppliers, and programme stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective handling of technical queries, supplier issues, and engineering change activities across complex aerospace supply chains.
  • Drive operational efficiency through process optimisation, workflow development, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as response time, resolution time, backlog reduction, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical leadership in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and issue escalation to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with engineering, procurement, logistics, and quality functions to deliver aligned project outcomes.
  • Champion APQP and FAIR processes to ensure new product introductions and production changes meet aerospace quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, reduce risks, and build long-term supply chain resilience.
Qualifications:

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in aerospace manufacturing operations, technical support, or service delivery.
  • Industry experience working in Tier 1 or OEM supply chains. OEM preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace supply chain operations, quality systems, and engineering change processes.
  • Proficiency with ERP and case management tools (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, Jira).
  • Practical experience in APQP & FAIR processes.
  • You must hold the full right to work within the UK
