Teacher - Reading Interventionist at Corpus Christi Independent School District

• Reading Specialist certification and Master’s Degree in Reading preferred
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for reading instruction at the appropriate campus and grade level assigned

• Knowledge of multisensory literacy instruction and best practices in delivering reading interventions
• Ability to effectively instruct students and manage student behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

• Conduct formal and informal assessments to determine literacy proficiency, appropriate placement, and specific instructional needs, as well as, dyslexia identification.
• Maintain up to date and organized data records as prescribed by the Curriculum and Instruction department to show areas of assigned students’ strengths and weaknesses.
• Develop and implement effective lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s multisensory curriculum and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepare and submit lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.               
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and literacy needs of students assigned.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and instructional methods according to district requirements.
• Plan, design, and coordinate assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) if applicable.
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process and serve as the district representative responsible for acquiring digital audio through TEA’s statewide membership.

• Model and coach instructional methods in a variety of settings (whole group and small group) and provide follow-up support as directed by the Curriculum and Instruction department.
• Collaborate with and coach teachers on the use of district prescribed assessment data to plan instruction; analyze school literacy data and plan for future literacy needs in collaboration with Curriculum and Instruction department.
• Provide ongoing training and follow-up in the use of assessment tools as prescribed by the Curriculum and Instruction department.
• Participate in collaborative instructional planning with Curriculum and Instruction department and with campus based teachers.
• Maintain a comprehensive inventory of instructional materials and resources as provided by the campus and district.
• Participate in parent conferences, RTI, 504, and ARD meetings as applicable and provide instructional suggestions.
• Remain grounded in content standards and objectives that align with district literacy goals in order to facilitate integrated and concept based instruction.
• Act as a positive role model for students and support missions of school district.
• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

• Participate in professional development as directed by Curriculum and Instruction department and based on personal reflections to improve job-related skills.
• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required by Curriculum and Instruction department and campus leadership. 

• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instruction equipment.
• Posture: Regular sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
• Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular overhead reaching.
• Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds).
• Environment: Work inside; work alone; potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards such as mold and dust.
