Responsibilities:
The Business Optimization Engineer is responsible for providing tactical and strategic guidance for the manufacturing process and reliability improvement activities for the region Wood Products manufacturing operations. The preferred candidate will need to reside in the Southern US near our Florien, Oakdale, or Alexandria, LA facilities.
- Supports region and plant leadership in development and execution of improvement plans for area.
- Identify, develop, budget, prioritize and implement new processes, programs, and projects as directed.
- Monitor's manufacturing performance in key assigned areas and lead process improvement initiatives to improve performance.
- Actively assists management in the professional development of region and plant personnel to support future needs in the organizational structure.
- Provides training support as needed to assure qualified local trainers are able to equip key personnel at all levels in the proper application of Boise Improvement Cycle tools.
- Gain and develop a broad comprehensive knowledge of plant environment and overall business operations in order to study and evaluate safety, quality, production output, operating costs, recovery analysis, optimization modeling, cash flow analysis, supply chain principles and competitor analysis.
- Capable of communicating and influencing change in others at all levels in the organization while demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
- 25-50% travel required. Travel may ebb and flow based on needs and candidate's exact location.
Basic Qualifications: College degree preferably in engineering, business or manufacturing or equivalent experience plus at least 6 years combined experience in both line and staff manufacturing positions in Wood Products. Strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills. Able to demonstrate strong communication skills that exhibit candor with discretion. Able to proactively address and solve problems. Ability to comprehend mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems with operations. Knowledge and understanding of industrial costs and their control.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Engineering, Business, Process Improvement, or Project Management. Advanced degree or related certifications a plus.
