Accounts Payable Specialist at New Horizon Academy

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounts Payable will be responsible for processing invoices, issuing payments, working with vendors and providing credit card support.  This position will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and is based in our corporate office located in Plymouth, MN.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Process and accurately code invoices while ensuring proper approvals are obtained
• Manage payments including checks, credit cards, and ACH transactions
• Apply credit card and electronic payments while supporting cardholders and reviewing activity
• Respond to vendor and internal inquiries with professionalism and accuracy
• Prepare documentation for external audits
• Create month-end accruals and review A/P aging reports
• Provide vendor spending reports to management
• File sales & use tax returns
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting team

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of experience in accounting or a related field (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A collaborative team player with a strong work ethic

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:

• Annual Salary: $20-22/hour
• Bonus potential: Up to $1,000/year (paid out quarterly)
