About the Department

Under the direction of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the Registered Behavior Technician is responsible for the implementation of behavior intervention plans developed by the IEP team, collecting data and conducting assessments. 


Salary: 
Candidates without a current RBT credential:  $27.94 per hour
Candidates with current RBT credential: full salary range $30.18 - $36.72 per hour Offers are made at the beginning of the range.

Assignment:
This position is 32.5 hrs/wk, school year schedule.

Position Duties

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform tasks assigned by the BCBA/BCaBA
  2. Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson plan implementation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation & assessment; and communication with parents and staff.
  3. Collect data and report student progress.
  4. Maintain accurate data collection records.
  5. Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
  6. Implement, assess, and evaluate implementation of student intervention plans and programs; provide input and feedback to teachers, parents, other appropriate team members and the Assistant Director.
  7. Implement positive behavior intervention systems.
  8. Manage crisis intervention by maintaining a safe, classroom environment for the students.
  9. Participate as a member of the education team. May attend parent conferences.
Other Functions:
  1. Other duties as assigned.
  2. Attend various training sessions needed in order to maintain an up-to-date understanding of behavioral intervention and other related meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Hold or obtain a valid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential within 60 days of employment. 
  3. Experience working with students with behavior or mental health issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Two years of experience as a Registered Behavior Technician.
  2. Training and/or experience in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques.
  3. Training and/or experience in implementation of positive behavior supports.
  4. Training and/or experience in Collaborative Problem Solving.
  5. Training in functional behavior analysis.
  6. Working knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations and procedures.

Other Qualifications

Working Conditions:

  1. Classroom setting, may move from classroom to classroom to provide services.
  2. Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.
  3. Job involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 35 pounds, carrying, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing and pulling.”
  4. Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.
  5. Students may use challenging or offensive verbalizations toward staff and other students with potential to escalation to physical aggression.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
