POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for participating in a formal training program and performing general duties in all areas of Bank operations, in addition to being assigned to a Residential Lending concentration. In the area of concentration, the Associate will have in-depth exposure and “hands on” learning opportunities. Upon successful completion of the training period the Associate will be assigned regular job duties within the Residential Lending business line that is consistent with their level of skill and experience gained over the course of the program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Departmental training: Perform assigned general duties in each department as directed by the supervising manager/mentor. Learn functions, operations, and Bank policies and procedures that affect each area of Bank operations as outlined in the training map provided at the beginning of the program. Meet required performance standards and proficiencies in each department as evaluated by the department manager.
Within the Residential Lending business line, the participant will work closely with their supervising manager/mentor to gain an in-depth knowledge of the key duties, responsibilities, roles and expectations of the department.
The associate and Residential Lending Manager may work with the Talent Development Specialist to document progress on learning the key duties of the assigned area of concentration and to develop plans to bridge any perceived learning gaps.
Throughout the training process, provide consistently high levels of customer service when dealing with Bank customers or prospective customers, to maintain the Bank’s service standards and ensure accurate and efficient operations.
Refer questions or problems to the Residential Lending Manager.
Meet or exceed established standards and objectives for Residential Lending Associate performance.
Comply with all Federal and State banking regulations and all Bank and department operating policies and procedures.
Support Bank products/services: Maintain knowledge of current KSB products and services. Actively utilize as many Bank products and services as possible in order to fully understand their features and benefits and to be able to communicate effectively with customers and prospective customers.
Talk to customers and listen for “cues and clues” to determine needs; respond to customer inquiries and evaluate their needs; suggest Bank products/services to customers to meet their needs; make referrals to other Bank personnel as appropriate.
Community/public relations: Actively participate in community organizations and events. Represent the Bank in the community.
Other outside activities: Actively participate in industry trade group meetings and educational programs to remain abreast of current issues and requirements affecting Bank operations and job performance.
Committees: Participate in departmental meetings as required.
Other duties: Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality. Work at other Bank branches as needed for customer service, operational, or training purposes. Attend and participate in Bank meetings. Attend internal and external training to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the management trainee position.
Perform other duties as required.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in business administration, accounting, economics, or finance and/or equivalent work experience.
- 1 to 3 years' progressively more responsible experience in banking or financial services.
- Basic understanding of budgeting, income statements, balance sheets and/or tax returns is desirable.
- Computer literate, with specific experience in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, the use of a serviceable automobile that is properly registered and proper liability automobile insurance as required by state law.
- Must be able to lift files and other documents of approximately 20 pounds.
- Must be able to read and work with computer print-out reports.
- Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time while waiting on customers.
- Must be able to spend extended periods of time operating a computer keyboard and working at a computer monitor.
- Must be able use the telephone to converse with customers for extended periods of time; must be able to communicate clearly by telephone; must have good listening ability and skills.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
- Must have strong written communications skills, including letter and report-writing ability.
- Must be able to prioritize and organize work flow; must have good attention to detail; must be able to handle multiple jobs.
- Must have the ability to think through a problem, following proper steps in finding resolution.
- Must have a high degree of ethics and maintain confidentiality of customers and accounts.
- Must be friendly, courteous and sensitive to the needs of customers and coworkers.
