The F.I.T. Family Partner uses their lived experience as a parent or caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs to engage and support other families. Acting as a mentor and advocate, the Family Partner empowers parents to navigate systems, build skills, and actively participate in their child’s treatment planning and recovery journey. 


What You Will Be Doing to Support Families...

  • Engage and support parents/caregivers through lived experience, empathy, and encouragement.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to strengthen family voice in treatment planning.
  • Assist families in navigating child-serving systems such as DCF, schools, healthcare, and behavioral health.
  • Support parents in developing skills related to advocacy, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with the FIT team (clinicians, paraprofessionals, supervisors) to coordinate services.
  • Accompany families to meetings, appointments, and school conferences as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.

Requirements

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Associates degree in Human Services from an accredited university OR intern enrolled in a master’s degree program in the human services field
  • Trained to provide family members with therapeutic support for behavioral health needs
  • Experience with care coordination/targeted case management
  • Skills in client advocacy and conflict mediation
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
