About the Department
We are seeking a part-time Program Assistant to support the Brunswick County Gator Senior Games and SilverArts programs, which offer recreational and arts opportunities for adults aged 50 and better. This role supports the planning and implementation of wellness-focused activities that promote friendly competition, creative expression, and active living.
In this part-time role, you will assist in organizing and delivering athletic and arts-based programming, including local competitions, exhibitions, and community outreach events. Responsibilities include helping with event setup and breakdown, maintaining participant and volunteer records, and providing on-site support during programs. You will also assist with registration, scheduling, and communication through newsletters, flyers, and social media outreach.
The Program Assistant will work closely with the BC Gator Senior Games & SilverArts Coordinator to ensure smooth execution of events and positive participant experiences. You will help transport participants to local and regional activities using a 15-passenger vehicle and may also support other Parks & Recreation programs as needed.
Evening and weekend availability is occasionally required during events. The ideal candidate is organized, enjoys working with older adults, and is enthusiastic about promoting wellness and engagement through recreational and arts programming.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Experience working with older adults is highly preferred.
