Description

  

To ensure that resident care objectives are established and met and that the standards, policies, and procedures in the department of nursing are consistent with the standards, policies and procedures of the Individual Supportive Living (ISL) Program and the residents’ physicians.

Requirements
  • Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability for functions and activities of the nursing staff, as well as the authority and responsibility to take all reasonable steps to ensure that the optimal quality care is delivered to the ISL residents.
  • Interpret, implement, and maintain ISL, administrative and nursing objectives, policies, and procedures with nursing staff routinely.
  • Counsel, discipline, and evaluate nursing employees in accordance with ISL policy, when necessary, documenting and coordinating such actions with the Administrator.
  • Solicit advice from inter - departmental supervisors (as assigned) concerning the operation of the nursing department, identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services.
  • Ensure appropriate agency and state required training, such as nursing tasks, care procedures, and resident-specific needs, ensuring adherence to care plans and policies. 
  • Encourage nursing staff to keep abreast of current and relevant nursing policies to aid in personal growth and development of staff members.
  • Prepare and submit nursing schedule to Administrator.
  • Analyze and evaluate nursing and resident related services rendered to improve quality of care.
  • Communicate with residents and their families as needed. Review complaints and grievances and make written/oral reports to the Administrator.
  • Coordinate obtaining nursing information for admission inquiries.
  • Monitor and audit all admission/readmission charts on the first working day following admission.
  • Regularly audit medication passes, diet logs and medical care checklists.
  • Collaborating with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents. 
  • Regularly monitoring residents’ vital signs, symptoms, and overall well-being, and reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Assign and participate in recapping of physician’s orders monthly, addressing medication errors, as found, and adding/deleting orders appropriately.
  • Accurately documenting all assessments, care provided, medications administered, and any relevant observations in resident records. Review all resident incidents and direct investigations as needed.
  • Attend ISP/Person Centered Plan meetings 
  • Complete and submit all agency and state mandated reports as required. 
  • Work hours are flexible.
  • Serve on various committees (Human Rights and Safety) of the ISL program and provide written/oral reports as required by the committee’s guidelines and direction.
  • Serves as Infection Control Nurse.
  • Monitor and manage medical supplies including ordering products. 
  • All other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

Required Nursing Experience: 3-5 years


Required Supervisory Experience: 1 year


License/Certification: Active MO State RN License, required.

Schedule:  8 hour Shift, On-call, when needed.
