Position Overview:

The PCB Drill Department Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the PCB drilling department, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and leading a team of drill operators. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Lead and supervise a team of drill operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and adherence to company policies.

Production Oversight:

  • Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of PCB drilling machines, ensuring they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to drilling operations promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, production counts, and any deviations from standard procedures.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct regular inspections of drilled PCBs to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement corrective actions when quality issues are identified, collaborating with the quality control team as necessary.
  • Ensure that all operators are trained in and adhere to quality assurance procedures and standards.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and management to implement new technologies or processes that can improve drilling operations.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address recurring issues.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all drilling operations comply with safety regulations and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report and address any safety hazards or incidents promptly.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PCB drilling operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes, specifically drilling operations.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting PCB drilling machines.
  • Knowledge of PCB design and manufacturing specifications.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and standards in PCB manufacturing.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle materials.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
