Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join our team. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills, specialized knowledge of EHS regulations, and the ability to influence operational processes without direct supervision.
Some Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA standards (e.g., 29 CFR 1910), EPA requirements, and hazardous waste management protocols. Interpret complex regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to company policies.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Training & Education: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for employees on topics such as personal protective equipment (PPE), chemical safety, ergonomics, and emergency preparedness.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace incidents, near-misses, and environmental spills.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma required. A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent experience demonstrating specialized knowledge) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role with proven ability to manage compliance programs and influence safety culture.
- Certifications: Preferred certifications include OSHA 30-Hour General Industry.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise independent judgment in complex situations.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication and training skills to engage diverse audiences.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking, climbing, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
