Title: Parent Educator for Parents as Teachers Qualifications: 21 years or older with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development, and 2 years of work experience with young children Reports To: BB/PAT Program Coordinator and BB/PAT Team Leader Location: Child Enrichment Services Office Date Reviewed: 2010, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024 Job Goals: Fully implement the PAT National curriculum as outlined to maintain the fidelity of the program and complete all funding source requirements as prescribed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performance Value: Interactions with Families
Provides families with two monthly home visits (as per grant/program guidelines) utilizing the PAT curriculum as outlined by PAT National for eligible families living in Benton County whose children are between the ages of prenatal-5 years.
Completes Group Connection Planning Guide & Group Connection Record and presents parent education workshops for monthly Parents as Teachers Group Connections.
Maintains communication with families before each home visit and as needed.
Completes all required family and developmental assessments, hearing and vision screenings by the specified deadline. Reviews and discusses with family within 14 days of assessment as well as makes referrals within 7 days.
Activities and Environments
Maintains current, organized files reflecting each child’s level of development and updated within 3 working days of home visits.
Plans and conducts PAT Advisory Board meetings. Seeks out new board members as needed.
Follows the PAT Recruitment Plan to recruit families to enroll in the PAT program.
Maintains and updates required databases within 3 working days of home visit.
Performs any other duties as required or assigned.
Monitors and coordinates use of shared space to ensure it is kept neat and organized.

Meets program attendance requirements and maintains a flexible work schedule.
Submits time off in the Frontline Absence Management and clocks in/out in the Frontline Time and Attendance Systems. Is punctual.
Maintains all areas of professionalism (dress, demeanor, speech, confidentiality) with supervisors, families, co-workers, other district staff and the community.
Open to new ideas and take initiative.
Accepts responsibility for job-related tasks.
Meets program expectations for professional development.
Is fiscally responsible.
Completes yearly self-evaluation and professional development goals.
Uses good judgment and keeps information confidential.
Participates in weekly reflective supervision and bi-monthly staff meetings.
Helps affiliates meet the PAT Essential Requirements and contributes to maintaining the Blue Ribbon Quality Affiliate Status.
Interpersonal Skills
Builds relationships and maintains contact with community resources and refers families as needed.
Works to build positive relationships with families, co-workers and other district personnel.
Has effective communication and interpersonal skills (e.g. nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, tactful, patient) with supervisors, families, co-workers, other district staff and community.
Works as a part of a team with concern for the entire program.
Additional qualifications include enjoyment of young children, good mental and physical health, respect for diverse cultural backgrounds, willingness to complete training requirements, and willingness to undergo regulatory checks required by law.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Based on Child Enrichment Services Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated based on the Child Enrichment Services Parents as Teachers Personnel Handbook and District Classified Personnel Evaluation.
