SUMMARY: Provide occupational therapy services to children in the school setting under the direction of registered occupational therapist (O.T.R.).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Provide occupational therapy services to students by direct or consultation to address range of motion, sensory strategies and techniques, fine and gross motor activities as related to IEP goals under the supervision of an OTR. 2. Document data into the Individual Education Plan (IEP) through the use of district information technology systems. Maintain progress monitoring systems. Read and respond to email. 3. Consult and collaborate with teachers and teams by suggesting ideas for classroom interventions. Train paraprofessionals as needed. Drive between schools as necessary. 4. Prepare and plan for groups or individual sessions. 5. Collaborate with OTR on a regular basis. Complete Medicaid documentation 6. Attend OT/PT professional learning meetings. Order therapy equipment as directed. Participate in continuing education courses or ongoing district professional development. 7. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: - Associates degree or two-year college certificate in occupational therapy assistant program. - No experience required; experience preferred in working with special needs children, working with typical children and/or rehabilitation experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS: - Criminal background check required for hire. - Valid occupational therapy assistant licensure with NBCOT - Valid Colorado driver’s license. - CPR and First Aid certifications preferred at hire.

SALARY INFORMATION: All Classified positions are paid on an hourly basis. All Newly hired classified employees are placed initially on Step 1 of the pay grade for their position. Classified employees can advance an additional 7 steps (maximum Step 8) based on their previous experience. Final hourly placement on the Classified Salary schedule is dependent on the Grade Level for the position being posted and employees’ previous work experience. “Grade” refers to position or job classification and “Step” refers to the number of work experience credit or service years.
