Escuela Popular (EP) was established in 1986 as a grassroots community school to address the growing demand for English instruction in East San Jose. Within its first year, the school experienced rapid growth in enrollment and expanded its student body, class offerings, and services to meet the increasing need. By 2002, EP achieved independence and obtained non-profit status under the name Escuela Popular Del Pueblo. Vision: Education to transform lives. Job Summary

Escuela Popular is seeking passionate and dedicated High School Teachers to teach English Language Development (ELD) courses for grades 9–12 in our adult program. We are looking for educators who are committed to supporting multilingual learners and creating an inclusive, rigorous, and engaging learning environment. We welcome applications from full-time teachers, part-time teachers, and retired educators who are excited to make a meaningful impact. Schedules are flexible and may include: Full-Time (Exempt): -8:00 AM – 4:30 PM - 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM Part-Time (Nonexempt): -9:30 AM – 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM - 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM - 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM - 7:30 PM – 11:00 PM RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan standards-aligned ELD instruction that builds English proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. - Deliver engaging lessons that foster academic growth and critical thinking. - Support students’ social-emotional development and provide differentiated instruction. - Maintain classroom management and a positive learning environment. - Collaborate with colleagues, participate in professional development, and contribute to school-wide initiatives. - Communicate regularly with students and staff to support academic success. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Valid California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential with EL/CLAD or BCLAD Authorization (required to teach ELD). - Experience working with high school and/or adult learners. (Highly Preferred) - Bilingual/Biliterate (Spanish/English). (Highly Preferred) - Strong classroom management and culturally responsive teaching practices. (Highly Preferred) - Two current letters of recommendation. (Required)
