Mechanical Engineer — Liquid Cooling (TCS/SFN)

Role Overview

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer — Liquid Cooling (TCS/SFN) with experience in Technical Cooling Systems (TCS) / Secondary Fluid Networks (SFN) or related piping/fluid systems to support the design, validation, and delivery of liquid cooling distribution solutions. The role is positioned to contribute to both custom and NPDI projects, working globally with engineering teams, suppliers, and customers. It requires strong technical skills in fluid systems, proficiency with Creo, and experience working within a PLM-controlled product development environment, with responsibility to deliver designs to high standards of quality, accuracy, and manufacturability while collaborating across functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of TCS/SFN assemblies, including manifolds, headers, valves, fittings, hoses, expansion tanks, strainers, and quick disconnects.
  • Develop and maintain Creo 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and parametric libraries for TCS/SFN components.
  • Prepare and maintain BOMs, PFDs, P&IDs, and technical documentation in PLM systems (Oracle PD Cloud, Windchill).
  • Perform system sizing and calculations (pressure drop, flow balancing, NPSH margin, valve Cv selection).
  • Support prototype builds and validation testing, including pressure, leak, flow/thermal, cleanliness, and condensation/dew point checks.
  • Work with suppliers to review manufacturability, cost considerations, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with global engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide input from custom orders and ETO projects into NPDI modules to support continuous improvement.
  • Support the use of layout/configurator tools and provide feedback to improve automation workflows.
  • Ensure designs comply with ASME and ASHRAE liquid cooling guidelines, as well as internal standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–8 years of experience in piping/fluid systems, preferably in data center liquid cooling, HVAC, or process cooling.
  • Experience with TCS/SFN design, validation, and productization.
  • High proficiency with PTC Creo for assemblies, layouts, routing, and detailed drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLM systems (Oracle PD Cloud, Windchill) for BOM and design lifecycle management.
  • Proven record of supporting NPDI projects using Stage-Gate or equivalent processes.
  • Hands-on validation experience, pressure/leak testing, flow and thermal testing, cleanliness protocols.
  • Knowledge of ASME and ASHRAE liquid cooling guidelines.
  • Solid understanding of DFM/DFA principles, weld/braze methods, and supplier fabrication processes.
  • Strong documentation skills, PFDs, P&IDs, test reports, engineering changes, and sustaining handoffs.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a global engineering team.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit MEP, or SpaceClaim for layout coordination and rapid concept visualization.
  • Understanding of hydraulic modeling for loop balancing and thermal/fluid sensitivity analysis.
  • Exposure to CFD tools for system modeling and optimization.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, FAT/SAT, and validation reporting.
