Lawyer / Associate, ESG and Business Human Rights
Your role
You'll be a part of our ESG hub, sitting within our Disputes & Investigations team and working with lawyers across all of our offices. You'll specialize in Business Human Rights matters alongside broader ESG and disputes work. Working closely with our Partners and the wider team, you will gain exposure to the most complex and interesting advisory and contentious matters in the market. You'll have the privilege of advising clients from almost every sector, from resources and energy through to infrastructure, superannuation and banking.
At Allens, our structure means you'll get exposure to a number of different Partners within your practice group and a wide variety of work. In this role your focus will be on our Business Human Rights and ESG practice, while also having an opportunity to work a range of other matters.
As a Lawyer or Associate with a focus on Business Human Rights, you will:
- Assist with advising clients on complying with their modern slavery reporting requirements and related human rights policy advice, human rights risk assessments and due diligence.
- Advise on the application of international human rights law and the voluntary business human rights frameworks for clients in a range of sectors, both from a compliance and best practice perspective and in the context of disputes, inquiries and regulatory matters.
- Support clients in understanding and managing ESG risks and issues.
- Advise our clients in connection with a range of non-judicial dispute resolution mechanisms relevant to business human rights responsibilities.
- Assist on ESG and Business Human Rights litigation where the opportunity arises.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. Hybrid working (60% in the office) is how we work however flexibility matters at Allens, so if you are seeking hybrid working or are looking for flexibility in your work, we would be happy to discuss what arrangements would work best for you.
About you
You will have:
- Experience specifically in Business Human Rights matters, including advising on the Australian modern slavery reporting regime within a disputes or risk and advisory practice.
- A desire to learn, grow, network, mentor others.
