As a Router, you will be responsible for developing and managing efficient delivery and service routes, ensuring the timely dispatch of drivers, and maintaining seamless coordination between operations and field teams. This role requires strong problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills to handle real-time route adjustments and optimize fleet performance. You will play a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and customer-focused service every day.

Salary: $23.00 -$26.00/hr

Key Responsibilities

Route Planning & Optimization

  • Develop, assign, and optimize daily delivery and service routes for drivers.
  • Monitor real-time route progress using GPS and dispatching software; adjust schedules to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to create and adjust weekly driver schedules.
  • Track route performance metrics, including timeliness, service quality, and efficiency benchmarks.

Driver & Fleet Coordination

  • Communicate daily with drivers regarding route assignments, schedule changes, road conditions, and emergencies.
  • Receive and dispatch service orders, coordinating with field teams for immediate response.
  • Collaborate with customer service to schedule and coordinate deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls.
  • Review and analyze driver route books and logs for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide feedback to operations and management on opportunities to improve route efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Problem-Solving & Operational Support

  • Address unexpected delays, equipment issues, or reroutes by coordinating with drivers and mechanics to provide timely solutions.
  • Handle emergency and non-emergency calls, ensuring drivers are directed appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records of route data, fleet schedules, inventory logs, and service documentation.
  • Enforce safety standards, DOT regulations, and company compliance policies in all operations.
  • Support special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Required Qualifications
    • Prior experience in routing, dispatching, or a logistics-related role.
    • Strong multitasking and problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Knowledge of GPS tracking, route planning, and dispatching software.
    • Ability to work independently and make decisive, effective decisions.
    • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
    • Availability to work overtime, on weekends, and during emergency situations.
    • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and enter/exit fleet vehicles as needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in waste management, construction logistics, or fleet dispatching.
    • Knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet safety compliance.
    • Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
    • Familiarity with performance metrics and service quality standards.
