The Dallastown Area School District seeks a PDE-Certified School Nurse (CSN) who will emulate our dedication to excellence and vision of inspiring and creating pathways for student success.
The current opening supports the York Township Elementary School and Loganville-Springfield Elementary School.
The successful candidate may be assigned to various buildings as needs arise.
K-3 Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:45 PM
Professional Compensation: Contract per Agreement between Dallastown Area School District and the Dallastown Area Education Associaion
PDE Classification: Non-Teaching Professional Employee (NTPE)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree: BSN preferred
PA Edcuational Specialist Certificate - Type Code 31:
Specialist - School Nurse PK-12 (1890)
Valid CPR & AED Certificate
Completion and submission of all mandated pre-employment documents and information
Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable consistent with applicable Pennsylvania aw, regulations and requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
JOB SUMMARY: Poviding direct care to students and staff who are ill or injured, administering medications according to district policy, and assuming other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Head CSN.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct mandated school health services, including but not limited to physical examinations, tuberculosis screening tests, screening evaluations for hearing, vision, and height/weight.
Maintain up-to-date cumulative immunization and health records for all students.
Administer first aid to a student or employee who has suffered an injury or emergency illness in accordance with established First Aid Procedures and the school district’s Standing Orders as approved annually by the school physician(s).
Observe students to detect health needs and report to parents, school personnel, physician, and/or other agencies as appropriate.
Dispense medication according to District Policy and Procedure, and Standing Orders.
Participate with school staff in the development and implementation of a total comprehensive health program.
Coordinate individual health plans for students requiring special adaptations or accommodations in order to receive an appropriate education.
Prepare and submit reports for the State Board of Health and the Superintendent or designee, as required.
Assist in the implementation of policy and the readmission of students with infectious and contagious diseases.
Assist in the preparation of the budget for the school health program.
Attend committee meetings and conferences regarding health services and health curriculum.
Consult with school administrators to establish, review and revise policy and procedure for a comprehensive school health program, promote good safety practices both within and outside the school buildings, and improve social and emotional climate of the school and classroom.
Determine and establish training/orientation for Health Care Assistants, Personal Care Assistants, and other paraprofessionals to address building/student needs and comply with the approved practices.
Serve as a member of child study teams, SAP, IEP teams, Chapter 14 and Chapter 15 review teams as appropriate.
Perform such other health related tasks as may be assigned by the Building Principal.
