About the role

 

The Head of Operating Model is accountable for designing, owning, and delivering the Integrated Gas (IG) operating model, ensuring it translates strategic intent into execution by aligning people, capabilities, processes, and structures to deliver sustained value.

 

This role owns the IG operating model roadmap, embedding enterprise-wide governance, and driving measurable improvements in efficiency, performance, and capability. The position is directly accountable for delivering multi-year transformation outcomes, including cost efficiencies, productivity uplifts, and capability build, ensuring IG remains resilient and future-ready in an evolving energy environment.

 

The role has enterprise-wide influence, partnering with IGLT, P&C, HSE, Technology, and Corporate Communications, to shape workforce transformation, embed cultural change, and uplift leadership and digital capabilities. Through strong commercial ownership and accountability for ROI, the role provides Origin with a competitive advantage in operational excellence, resilience, and strategic execution

 

 

More about the role

 

Reporting to the GM, Supply and Technology, this role is responsible for working across the business to evolve the IG operating model as required to achieve the delivery of IG strategy and goals.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

  • Own and drive the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the IG Operating Model, accountable for delivering measurable improvements in cost, efficiency, agility, and workforce capability.

 

  • Accountable for the multi-year operating model roadmap, ensuring alignment with IG and Origin Group strategy, and reporting progress to the IGLT.

 

  • Manage transformation budgets and deliver cost efficiencies of approx. $25million annually through operating model optimisation, process excellence, and digital enablement.

 

  • Lead enterprise process governance, accountable for alignment, compliance, and consistent execution across IG.

 

  • Make recommendations and decisions on complex trade-offs (cost, risk, efficiency, capability) that materially impact IG’s long-term performance.

 

  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing transformation team, accountable for capability uplift across 1,000+ IG employees, embedding new ways of working and developing leaders of leaders.

 

  • Shape organisational culture, accountable for embedding workforce transformation programs, leadership behaviours, and capability build aligned to Origin’s strategic priorities and values.

 

  • Champion and own continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring adoption of new practices, technologies, and ways of working that enhance IG's competitiveness.

 

  • Monitor and report on ROI, providing clear measures of performance, efficiency, adoption, and business value delivered through operating model changes.

 

  • Role model safety and compliance leadership, ensuring the operating model embeds Origin’s HSE and risk frameworks across all levels of the business.

  • Excellent planning & organisational skills, with ability to navigate conflicting priorities

 

  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and facilitation skills with ability to present and communicate at senior management levels

 

  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance

 

Experience

 

Ideally you will have previous exposure to one or more of the following:

 

  • Resources or manufacturing industries, including broad operational experience (desirable)

 

  • A commercially focused or strategic business/financial role

 

  • Leading business outcomes and developing business processes

 

  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams or projects

 

  • Change management and a track record of introducing new ways of working and/or creative problem-solving
