We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Internal Cleaner to join our team at Heartworks Early Education. The awarded candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment across three buildings on our Shelburne campus. As an essential extension of the facilities team, the cleaner will help identify and report any maintenance issues directly to the Facilities Manager.

Job Title: Internal Cleaner
Location: Heartworks Early Education – 4066 Shelburne Road, Shelburne, VT 05458
Reports To: Facilities Manager and Regional Manager
Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday, 4:30 PM – 12:30 AM



Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all cleaning duties according to the established scope of work.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of compost, recycling, and trash following campus guidelines.
  • Regularly sanitize and disinfect high-touch areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Notify the Facilities Manager promptly about any maintenance issues or hazards discovered during cleaning rounds.
  • Maintain open communication with the Executive Director and Assistant Director by documenting updates and concerns in a provided journal.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure cleaning products and equipment are used according to guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the facilities team to support broader maintenance and operational goals.


    • Qualifications:
  • Previous professional cleaning experience is preferred, especially in educational or childcare settings.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and equipment use.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow a structured scope of work.
  • Good communication skills for collaborating with the facilities team, executive director, and assistant director.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check to be eligible to work in a school environment.


    • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Comfortable working after hours in an indoor environment.
