About the Department
This is work performing routine and semi-skilled duties in the maintenance, repair, and construction of County parks, trails and County building grounds.
This position is part of the career path in the Park Maintenance field.
Generally, the hiring rate is $19 per hour. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary. Returning seasonal may receive a higher compensation.
As a temporary position, no benefits are available.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)
- Provides general clean up and maintenance of Parks, Trails and Building Grounds.
- Turf maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, aeration, fertilization and weed management.
- Performs routine maintenance and operation of equipment.
- Works closely with staff on irrigation systems performing installation and programming.
- Preparation of athletic fields including baseball, softball, soccer, football and lacrosse.
- Seasonally clears snow with shovels up to 20lbs. (heavy wet spring snow).
- Ability to perform strenuous labor for up to 8 hours a day and beyond during snow season.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 17 years of age.
- At minimum, must be enrolled in high school or a GED program. High school diploma preferred.
- Requires some maintenance or construction experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License class R upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check through a national database and a drug screen (including marijuana) prior to employment.
