About the job:
The Production Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting production issues, providing technical support, and driving process improvements to optimize plant performance. They lead root cause analysis, support capital projects, and enhance OEE, yields, and HSE compliance, while collaborating with global teams and assisting in operator training and process changes.
In your future role as a Production Engineer, you will:
- Troubleshoot plant processes and production issues to ensure smooth operations
- Provide technical and engineering support to operating areas on a day-to-day basis
- Apply in-depth knowledge of process technology to address production challenges
- Offer technical support for troubleshooting equipment, processes, quality, controls, and systems
- Take ownership of assigned production units, including VMC, yields, OEE, and HSE
- Initiate and complete process changes and assist in preparing facts for the MOC process
- Provide plant expertise during troubleshooting, hazard studies, and the selection of technical solutions while establishing optimized operating windows
- Support the HSE&S Manager with process safety and environmental incidents
- Collaborate with other process engineers, external experts, or the global technology group for complex process issues
- Assist in training operations teams on equipment and new technologies
- Lead Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for HSE, quality, and production loss events
- Monitor and improve production utilization and process efficiency (AUM + PEM)
- Analyze AUM/PEM data and create reports (e.g., Pareto charts) to identify areas for production improvement
- Support production operators with downtime, performance losses, and quality issues through Nouryon’s Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Operations Asset Management (OAM) Portal Systems
- Evaluate production variations and propose focus areas for controlling variable cost drivers in AUM/PEM processes
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance in collaboration with the plant management team and capital projects
- Develop initial project scoping and business cases for capital projects, and either lead or hand over to project teams for execution
- Collaborate with the Global Technology group, R&D, and the plant to manage and control process changes on-site
- Drive improvements in OEE by eliminating technology and material losses
- Assist the Production Manager in the establishment of MACs, BOMs, and in identifying primary and secondary drivers in PEM
- Support and challenge the Production Manager in evaluating monthly losses and selecting improvement initiatives.
We believe you bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, or a related field, with relevant production experience in specialty chemicals, food production, or similar industries
- Proven experience in the chemical industry, with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and operations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with teams across the organization.
- A good understanding of process safety and risk management practices.
- Familiarity with Nouryon’s HSE requirements and a commitment to maintaining safety and environmental standards.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, to communicate clearly in a global working

Compensation Information:
The hiring salary range for this position ranges from $74,600 to $106,600, although individuals may eventually progress through the pay scale in this role up to $138,600. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role as well as the individuals’ qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications. Hired applicants will be eligible to receive annual bonuses.
Employees (and their families) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are also eligible to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive paid time off and the mandated company holidays throughout the calendar year.
