Primary Purpose: The Multilingual ESL Manager ensures that Emergent Bilinguals receive an excellent education, one that harnesses the assets of their bilingualism and is aligned with Uplift’s IB vision for excellence. The Manager is responsible for managing the network’s ESL instruction and developing multilingual ESL coordinators to lead via instructional strategies that facilitate differentiation for Emergent Bilinguals. To this end, the Manager will collaborate with the Curriculum &Instruction, ML Programming team leadership, and outside personnel to formulate, develop, and evaluate instruction for Emergent Bilinguals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Instructional Programming
Drive the network vision for Tier I ESL instruction for all Emergent Bilinguals.
Partner with network leadership to support schools’ use of language objectives to drive social and academic language proficiency across the campus.
Manage Multilingual ESL Coordinators of ML Programming to drive the vision for Tier I ESL instruction, including ELPS implementation.
In collaboration with the C&I team, create and/or select instructional materials that meet scholars’ needs; integrate and support development of instructional initiatives to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching and learning process.
Utilize network progress monitoring data to inform and adapt Tier I ESL initiatives.
Present Tier I scholar outcome data (internal assessments) to ML team and Academic team leadership monthly; evaluate and suggest instructional materials to better meet scholar needs.
Consult the implementation of the curricular specific needs of newcomers.
Documentation and Law
Support identification procedures (assessment, placement, and evaluation tracking) for all Emergent Bilinguals, including scholars with IEPs, STAAR, PEIMS, achievement, oral proficiency, and other entry/exit level assessments as determined by the Multilingual Program Director.
Support the maintenance of records and reports for the Bilingual/ESL program and PEIMS filing.
Support and ensure compliance implementation on campus.
Ensure confidentiality of scholar information.
Consultation and Professional Learning
Develop and lead professional development aligned to ESL instructional priorities (Tier I) for TLT and Schools members; serve as a resource to all stakeholders so that Uplift better meets the needs of Emergent Bilinguals.
Meet regularly with campus leadership to support their implementation of Tier I ESL priorities.
Assist with recruiting ML programming team staff.
Finance and Inventory
Submit requisitions for the ML team, utilizing the bilingual/ESL and Title II funds, and act as a liaison between the finance team and ML team on discrepancies between teams.
Support Multilingual ESL Coordinators on requests for projects and programs requiring Bilingual/ESL, Title III, and Pre-K money; liaise with Finance on campus budgets.
Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B.A./ B.S.) from an accredited college or university required. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.
Experience Requirements: Spanish speaking is a plus. A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience is required. A minimum of two years of adult leadership is required. Must enjoy working with Emergent Bilinguals and their families.
Special Skills/Certifications: Must have a valid Texas Teacher Certification with endorsement in Bilingual and ESL education.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
Ability to determine trends in data and develop action plans as needed.
Mastery of both oral and written English with the ability to write general correspondence.
Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Work Environment: Standard office environment, though the role requires frequent visits to multiple campuses across the DFW metroplex.
Starting Salary: $85,000
