Job Description:  The Extended School Day Facilitator, formerly known as the Homework Club Advisor, plays a crucial role in providing intervention support to students in grades 6-8 at Shapleigh School. This position is designed for a teacher or educational technician with an understanding of the curriculum in all academic domains for grades 6-8.

Responsibilities:

• Academic Support: Provide targeted academic support to students who require additional time or assistance to meet learning expectations.

• Curriculum Expertise: Demonstrate an understanding of the grades 6-8 curriculum in all academic domains to effectively assist students.

• Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and school staff regarding students' progress and areas of improvement.

• Organization: Plan and organize activities that align with the academic needs of students and the goals of the Extended School Day Program.

• Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with school staff, creating a collaborative environment to support the overall well-being of students.

• Patience and Kindness: Exhibit patience and kindness when working with students, recognizing that some may require additional support to achieve success.

• Supervising High School Volunteers: Coordinate and supervise volunteers from Traip Academy to assist students with academic work. 

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Teacher or educational technician at Shapleigh School preferred.

• Curriculum Knowledge: Basic understanding of the grades 6-8 curriculum in all academic domains.

• Communication Skills: Outstanding communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to plan and implement effective academic support activities.

• Positive Attitude: Genuine interest and love for middle-level students, with the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

• Availability: Available for after-school hours throughout the school year.
