Fundamentals of sport;
Health and safety regulations;
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Ability to:
Assist other coaches;
Understand and follow oral and written directions;
Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, polices & procedures;
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers, and parents;
Performance responsibilities:
Promote sport in the schools and community
Plan the wrestling program.
Organize and supervise practices
Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game
Teach good sportsmanship and self-control
Check eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent
Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance
Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines
Present a positive image of the district to parents and community
Demonstrate concern with the education, growth and development of each student
Seek to develop a positive relationship between home and school
Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes
Adhere to the Newport Board of Education Policies and Procedures
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certification, preferred;
21 years of age;
Has met requirements of a criminal records check and child abuse background check as specified by KY State Law;
Successful completion of all trainings courses as specified by KHSAA;
Demonstrates knowledge of sporting rules, regulations, and guidelines.

Paid per the approved athletic extra-service salary schedule
