Softball - Varsity Head Coach The Scarsdale Public Schools are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented individual who exhibits a love of learning and a genuine interest in the social, emotional, mental, and physical health of student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching student-athletes in the sport of softball with demonstrated success in player development. The ability to design experiences for players to interpret the game and to respond effectively is essential. A successful candidate will lead and collaborate with other coaches within the program. Working knowledge of an educational interscholastic program is preferred. Prior successful experience coaching at the varsity level is preferred, but not required.
NYS certification in physical education or a coaching license is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Has the ability to lead in the organization and supervision of a varsity level softball program..
Has previous successful coaching experience in softball.
The coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
The coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
REPORTS TO: The Scarsdale High School Athletic Director.
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Scarsdale Public Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
Has knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations and implements them consistently.
Assists the program in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sports events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
Monitors a student athlete's grades and conduct.
Follow procedures concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
Aids in the management and use of equipment and instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property.
Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
Presents information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments, and results.
