Compliance Specialist
Department: Employee Operations Location: Lubbock, TXRole Overview
As a Compliance Specialist, you will champion proactive compliance by translating legal requirements and consultant guidance into actionable systems, processes, and training across all Betenbough Companies. With a heart for both care and order, you will help cultivate an environment of clarity, integrity, and alignment by ensuring key leaders have buy-in and confidence as we implement compliance guidelines. By pursuing order in the midst of chaos and differing opinions, you ensure we are not only legally aligned but culturally aligned in how we create a safe working environment for every employee to flourish.
Core Functions
- Partner with HR/legal consultants to understand compliance gaps for each business and build clear, executable action plans.
- Translate regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, DOT, FMLA, I-9, EEO, document retention, etc.) into policies, checklists, training, and workflows.
- Track, monitor, and report on progress toward company-wide compliance milestones.
- Lead compliance-related projects from start to finish, ensuring alignment with internal teams and external partners.
- Create scalable, lightweight systems to maintain long-term compliance across all companies and departments.
- Maintain centralized records and documentation to ensure audit-readiness and data integrity.
- Collaborate with leaders across businesses to clarify expectations and equip them with tools to support compliance in their context.
- Support orientation and ongoing employee education in collaboration with the onboarding team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Business or HR related field
- 1-2 years of experience in one of: HR, Compliance, or Safety.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Variation of environment.
- Vision for near, mid-range and far as well as hearing for low, medium, and high pitch.
- Superior communication skills with co-workers, customers, trade partners and vendors.
- Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist.
- Must have a current and valid driver�s license and must be able to be insured by company fleet insurance.
- To be considered for this position, you must be at least 18 years old in accordance with company policies and applicable labor laws
- Must be able to perform all job expectations safely with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to lift 5 - 20 pounds.
Hours & Schedule
- 40 hours per week (8am-5pm, M-F)
- Minimal travel required for company events and inter-region collaboration.
