The Senior Advocacy Network is a legal aid and housing support services nonprofit working with older adults across Stanislaus County. We are looking for a full-time Housing Caseworker who will provide thoughtful whole-person support to older adult clients who have housing-centered challenges.

The Housing Caseworker’s primary responsibility is to administer individualized housing support services according to Senior Advocacy Network’s (SAN) Guidelines and Protocols. This position works closely with the other branch of SAN, the Senior Law Project, along with many other community housing partners.

I. GENERAL DUTIES:

Caseworker is responsible for assisting clients to obtain housing stability and affordability through personalized housing consultations and counseling. Must ensure that clients’ housing barriers are identified, addressed and resolved to the degree possible with a focus on medium to long-term housing planning. Housing caseworkers understand the resources available to their clients and assist their clients in accessing the appropriate supports as needed.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with case management, preferably a background in social work
  • Flexible and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Diligent note-taking and documentation skills
  • Patient and consistent communicator
  • Computer/database proficient
  • Experience navigating Housing Authority paperwork
  • Ability to manage different program eligibility requirements and services
  • Strong teamwork mentality
  • Passion for working with seniors!
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking candidate preferred.

III. COMPETENCIES:

Client - Focused - Ability to work with a diverse clientele from different backgrounds; understand and be sensitive to their needs.

Decision Making - Ability to make independent responsible decisions in service delivery with continued supervisory guidance.

Teamwork - Support teamwork and information sharing among staff for effective service delivery.

Technical Proficiency – Willingness to opt in to training opportunities as presented by supervisor; apply a Housing First model to all case management; employ Trauma informed strategies for client engagement

IV. SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Provide housing stabilization services (case management) to all clients in conjunction with community partners.

Assist all clients with applications and necessary document procurement.

Maintain regular contact with clients.

Navigate clients through the application to waitlist process.

Perform assessments on all applicants for programs eligibility.

Work in tandem with internal program staff and external partners to facilitate housing and housing-adjacent success.

Advocate for other financial, social and legal needs of clients as they pertain to housing and their ability to afford housing.

Participate in weekly case conferences with the Housing team.

Participate in biweekly case conferences with the Housing and Senior Law Project team.

Accurately maintain digital files for all clients enrolled in the program while protecting PII.

Document all housing outcomes, communications, links to services, and other interactions.

Maintain positive relationships with landlords and other providers.

Other duties as assigned by Lead Caseworker and/or Deputy Executive Director

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
