Summary

The Mix Plant supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operations of the Mix Plant department, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols, work instructions, and operating procedures related to the packaging and handling of explosive products. This role leads a team of operators, coordinates daily production activities, troubleshoots technical issues, and maintains high standards of product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the mix plant team to meet production goals
  • Ensure all team members follow written work instructions and safety procedures
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed
  • Inspect manufactured products for accuracy and quality compliance
  • Identify and mitigate hazards within the production area
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to operators, including training and certification (e.g., forklift, box truck)
  • Collaborate with area leads and department managers to resolve technical or operational issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with ATF and other regulatory requirements
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure safety and promote a culture of accountability
  • Ensure environmental compliance and adherence to company standards
  • Conduct performance management and evaluations of employees
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring new team members
  • Maintain inventory counts of mix plant warehouse materials
  • Complete routine housekeeping and basis of safety checklists
  • Enter work requests and participate in weekly maintenance planning

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must meet all state and federal explosive laws and qualify as an atf explosive processor
  • Ability to read and maintain proper documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot/cold, wet floors, loud environments)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs regularly and stand/walk up to 10 hours per day
  • High manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work at heights or elevated surfaces for short periods
  • Availability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively

Preferred skills:

  • 1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ years of experience in explosive or chemical manufacturing
  • Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting experience
