Join Our Team as a Senior Android Engineer at Pulselive
Salary band: £60,640 - £75,000
We’re looking for a Senior Android Engineer who’s excited by the idea of building apps used by millions of passionate sports fans around the world.
If you’re someone who loves crafting intuitive mobile experiences, working with modern Android tech, and collaborating across disciplines to ship high-quality products, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
What Your Day Will Look Like
As a Senior Android Engineer at Pulselive, you’ll take the lead on building and maintaining native Android applications for some of the biggest names in sport.
You’ll work with autonomy, from shaping architecture decisions to delivering new features end-to-end. One day you might be collaborating with designers on bespoke UIs for a major tournament; the next, helping mentor junior engineers or integrating a complex third-party data API. You’ll have a voice in planning, be trusted to write scalable, maintainable code, and play a key role in ensuring our apps are fast, stable, and loved by users.
You’ll also help drive technical standards and best practices, working closely with engineers across iOS, backend, and frontend teams. We’re big believers in continuous learning, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore new technologies and champion improvements across the stack.
What We Value
At PulseLive, we build high-performing digital experiences for some of the biggest sports teams, leagues, and tournaments in the world.
In this role, you’ll be expected to take ownership of your work, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and support others as a technical mentor. You’ll also be trusted to contribute to architectural decisions, long-term planning, and team-wide engineering initiatives.
Our Tech Stack
We don’t expect you to know every tool listed, but here’s a snapshot of what we work with day to day:
Languages & Frameworks: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Multi-platform Mobile (KMP)
Architecture & Tools: Room, sqlite3, Gradle, Firebase, RESTful APIs, CI/CD (Bitrise & Jenkins)
Testing & QA: JUnit, Espresso, Mockito, Mockk, Maestro, SonarQube
What We’re Looking For
We know that great engineers come from all backgrounds. Here’s what would make someone a strong fit for this role:
Solid experience building and shipping Android apps using Kotlin
Experience with Kotlin Multi-platform Mobile (KMP) or a strong interest in learning it
Comfortable designing scalable architecture and integrating third-party APIs
Familiar with modern CI/CD pipelines (we use Bitrise) and testing strategies
A strong understanding of Android SDKs, system architecture, and performance optimization
Ability to mentor others and support team-wide knowledge sharing
Great communicator who can work effectively with designers, PMs, and clients
A passion for delivering quality code — and a healthy respect for clean, maintainable systems
Bonus Points
Experience with CMS-driven apps
Familiarity with accessibility and performance best practices
Experience leading small projects or managing other engineers (optional)
