• Be Great at What You Do – Whether you're chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, setting up prep stations, or helping on the cold line, your role is crucial to the flow of the kitchen. You follow instructions carefully, take pride in your prep work, and always strive to improve your skills. Your attention to detail ensures ingredients are ready on time, accurately prepared, and stored safely for service.
• Be a Team Player – You work alongside line cooks, sous chefs, and dishwashers to support smooth kitchen operations. You’re dependable, take direction well, and understand that every role in the kitchen contributes to guest satisfaction. You ask questions when needed and step up when help is required.
• Be an Everything Clean and Organized Fanatic – You know that a clean and well-organized prep station is a safe and efficient one. You clean as you go, follow safe food handling procedures, and assist with regular cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
• Be a Safety & Security Agent – You follow all safety guidelines and food handling protocols, from proper knife use to correct food storage. You’re alert to potential hazards and communicate with your team or manager when something doesn’t look right. You help maintain a safe environment for everyone in the kitchen.
Job Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen (prep or pantry experience preferred)
Culinary training or enrollment in a culinary program is an asset
Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
Responsible for mise en place, ingredient prep, and assisting higher-level cooks
Ability to follow simple recipes and prep lists
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and improve performance
Must be able to stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs when necessary
Good attitude, work ethic, and team player mindset
Able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
Must be comfortable using basic kitchen equipment safely
Clear communication skills and ability to follow instructions in English
Job Duties
Perform basic food prep tasks such as chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, and preparing simple items
Assist higher-level cooks with mise en place and daily kitchen setup
Follow prep lists and basic instructions accurately and efficiently
Maintain cleanliness of assigned prep area and tools
Wash, peel, and cut ingredients as directed
Portion and store ingredients in proper containers with labeling and dating
Assist with plating and garnishing during service
Learn proper use of kitchen equipment and tools
Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations
Participate in kitchen cleaning routines including end-of-day shutdowns
Maintain a positive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills
Report any food spoilage or equipment issues to a supervisor promptly
