Exciting opportunity to be a Research Assistant in Cancer and Stem Cell Research
Base Salary from $72,966 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Research Assistant provides technical support and research assistance in the laboratory. They prepare the laboratory and assist with routine experiments and practicals. They also assist with the collection and analysis of data.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
develop research projects in collaboration with researchers, students, and/or other technical staff
provide research assistance to staff, students, researchers, and other technical staff in the laboratory, including support for animal work
providing trainings to staff, visitors, and students on the safe operation and practices within a PC2 laboratory environment
undertake or assist with the cleaning and sterilisation of laboratory items, materials, and equipment
support the maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment, including assisting with the coordination of maintenance and repairs
assist with the safe and appropriate storage and disposal of hazardous substances
undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
experience working in cancer or cancer research programs is preferable
demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with researchers and collaborators
experience in research methodology skills is preferred
will be an excellent communicator both oral and written
ability to work both independently and as part of a team
strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record experimental data
effective time management skills, with a reliable and approachable manner
able to travel between the university facilities if needed.
