About the Department
The purpose of the class is to perform a variety of routine-to-moderately complex clerical work in the preparation and maintenance of department records; to perform a variety of clerical tasks as assigned; and to provide professional and courteous customer service at all times. The class is given a general outline of work to be performed and is free to develop work methods and sequences; work is reviewed periodically by supervisor.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Enforces election laws, procedures, and polices regarding voter registration, absentee voting, and early voting.
Maintains knowledge of current election laws and policies.
Assist voters, candidates, election workers, and citizens with questions regarding election laws, voter registration, and absentee and early voting.
Performs a variety of clerical duties related to elections process such as mailing registration and election materials, verifying petition signatures, candidate filing, taking photo ID, maintaining and updating voter records.
Processes voter registration applications and voter changes by mail, electronically, and in-person.?
Performs basic clerical functions such as typing, proofreading, data entry, filing, and/or servicing customers by phone, in person, or via email.
Prepares, processes, copies, indexes, files, transmits and/or maintains various department documents.
Ensures the security, confidentiality and retention of files and election materials as appropriate.
Types letters, memos, and other correspondence for the appropriate office or department.
Corresponds with the State Election Commission, board members, and other election officials.
May tabulate, post and verify information as requested.
May answer telephone and direct visitors to the appropriate location.
Assists co-workers with clerical duties as necessary to include assisting with preparation of scanners, ballot marking devices, electronic poll books and election night duties.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Requires at least one (1) year of related work experience.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hour each week to maintain full-time status. Employees must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays during emergencies or as requested.
