Job Title: Delivery Driver
Reports to: Prepared Foods Manager, Cordata
Status: Non-Exempt, Union Position Level 1
Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour
Wage Range: $19.00 – $22.57 per hour
Schedule: Variable shifts; must be flexible to meet delivery schedules
POSITION SUMMARY
The Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transport of deli, bakery, and meat production items between Community Food Co-op locations. This role includes picking up products from one location, delivering them to another, and returning as needed, ensuring all deliveries meet Co-op standards for quality, safety, and customer service. The driver represents the Co-op and must maintain a clean driving record and a positive, professional demeanor. Between scheduled deliveries, this position also supports the Back of House (BoH) team by assisting with dishwashing tasks and other duties such as wrapping and labeling products. This position may be issued a Co-op credit card for authorized purchases such as gas or kitchen supplies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate Co-op vehicles to pick up and deliver deli, bakery, and meat products between designated Co-op locations.
- Load, secure, and unload products carefully to avoid damage and maintain quality and safety standards.
- Verify delivery contents against invoices or orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles.
- Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper temperature control and handling of perishable items.
- Communicate effectively with deli, bakery, and operations staff to coordinate deliveries and pick-ups.
- Report any vehicle maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Represent the Community Food Co-op with professionalism and courtesy during all interactions.
- Comply with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and Co-op policies.
- Assist with additional operational tasks as assigned, including dishwashing, food packaging/labelling, loading or unloading product, and purchasing supplies (such as gas or kitchen items) as needed.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Valid Washington State food handler card (or ability to obtain before starting).
- Proven ability to operate delivery vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow safety protocols related to food handling and transportation.
- Good communication skills and a cooperative team attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet delivery schedules.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in food or grocery delivery preferred.
- Familiarity with food safety practices related to perishable goods.
- Knowledge of local traffic patterns and routes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift, carry, and load/unload product weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, handling, reaching, holding, and performing repetitive movement.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles for transporting products, including sitting for extended periods while driving.
- Ability to move quickly and safely when loading and unloading vehicles.
- Comfortable working in variable temperature environments, including refrigerated or freezer areas.
