CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

REPORTS TO: AVP, Regional Branch Manager

SUPERVISES: Personal Bankers and Assistant Branch Manager


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Branch Manager position administers management for a full service, profitable branch for First Farmers Bank & Trust. Supervising branch retail staff and providing input on different committees as needed throughout the year is required. This position must assist customers in providing detailed knowledge of Bank products and services, articulate the benefits and conditions of these services and cross sell products to new and current clients as needed. Driving new sales opportunities into the branch through outside selling is required.


Business Development portion will be responsible for developing sales opportunities to potential business customers. Be willing to pursue businesses on an ongoing basis, in conjunction with the Regional Branch Manager, Treasury Management and Commercial Loan Officers, to further enhance FFBT’s deposit and services growth. Provide sales trainings to front line staff to improve sales acumen for the Retail sector. Build a positive reputation of FFBT throughout the community.


BRANCH DUTIES:


1. Manage overall branch operations including but not limited to;

  • Scheduling branch staff
  • Develop job responsibilities for each employee at your branch
  • Have monthly meetings with your staff to discuss sales opportunities and operational issues
  • Have weekly huddles with your staff – subject matter to be determined by the Regional Team

2. Establish and help attain internal performance objectives for your branch

3. Contribute to the interaction with other bank departments, to include but not limited to Commercial Loan Officers, Mortgage Officers, Treasury Management and Wealth Management to leverage sales opportunities

4. Provide quality customer service through knowledge of bank products and services

5. Expand and retain bank customer relationships and solicit new relationships from prospective customers

6. Educate new and existing customers about features and benefits of bank products and services. Proactively refer customers to appropriate personnel

7. Develop and implement strategies to help grow deposits

8. Investigate competitive offerings in your market

9. Supervise, train, coach, and perform annual reviews for all branch personnel.

10. Review and provide reports to management including;

  • Branch totals for deposit
  • Teller offage
  • Total cash for your branch
  • Past due safe deposit boxes

11. Have financial freedom consultations with customers

12. Take applications for all consumer loans including home equity line of credit applications

13. Determine fee refunds and settlement of the NSF list in conjunction with the Head Teller

14. Oversee the maintenance items for your branch, including the parking lot

15. Assist in counting tellers out when they are off more than $100 or with surprise audit counts

16. Test the branch security equipment and investigate security issues as needed

17. Coordinate training of staff on all bank products and services on an ongoing basis

18. Maintain customer contact and handle customer complaints

19. Ensure the branch stays in compliance of all applicable federal and state regulations

20. Ensure completion of all quarterly education courses

21. Build and insure employee and customer satisfaction levels are met

22. Attend all applicable meetings including Branch Manager meetings

23. Be an active member in the community

24. Complete the CD maturity list – calling upon all customers in question

25. Assist tellers and CSR’s in peak times to expedite the work flow

  • Processing customer transactions; such as, cashing checks, handling deposits, withdrawals, money orders, and cashier’s checks
  • Balance cash within teller drawer daily; pull and check teller balances daily
  • Manage and resolve all customer requests for updates, inquiries and any problems either in person or over the phone
  • Process cash advances; spring/fall property taxes; and wire transfers as needed
  • Processing/Ordering checks and all related products for customers
  • Open all consumer and commercial deposit accounts while looking for opportunities to cross-solve potential financial needs
  • Follow-up with all new accounts utilizing the 2-2-2 process

26. Provide back-up Head Teller duties in absence of an Assistant Branch Manager

  • Ensure and oversee daily Teller balancing
  • Ensure Teller line is in compliance with all established policies, and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and secure control of vault inventories, cash and other negotiable items. Maintain adequate supplies of all inventories
  • Branch vault responsibilities including; ordering weekly and balancing daily
  • Ordering and maintaining branch supplies
  • Responsible for keeping the staff up-to date on all FFBT policies and procedures
  • Review and provide reports on Past Due Safe Deposit Boxes and Teller Offages

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

  1. Develop an outside calling strategy to build new relationships for the bank
  2. Conduct targeted sales calls, through in-person contact as well as via phone conversations
  3. May be responsible for being a lending specialist within market
  4. Conduct business prospecting sales calls to uncover new business opportunities, attracting new relationships and additional service offerings. Work with Regional Branch Manager and Loan Officers to complete customer handoff
  5. Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements

RELATIONSHIPS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Responsible to the AVP, Regional Branch Manager for the fulfillment of duties assigned
  2. Will have contact with the customers and public
  3. Ability to manage branch-banking personnel engaged in retail operations to achieve profit, growth and customer service objectives within Bank policy guidelines
  4. At least (3) years of experience in developing business relationships is preferred, prior banking experience, and must have the ability and willingness to call on prospective customers
  5. Requires sound knowledge of established procedures, methods and practices, and extensive knowledge of customer base
  6. Good sales and computer skills, and a proven ability to develop business opportunities are necessary
  7. Maintain relationships within the business community including participation with community organizations and community projects
  8. Should be analytically minded and possess good judgment
  9. Must demonstrate sales, management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  10. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  11. Manage time effectively
  12. Be able to work flexible hours
