Under supervision by an RN, a Dentist, or a member of the Medical Staff, the LVN is responsible for providing general nursing care to patients. May lead or mentor lower-level team members.
Responsibilities
- Sorts, prioritizes, and manages patient messages and calls; manages the scheduling of patient appointments.
- Prepares patient for examination, sets up and maintains sterile field, and assists clinical staff with examinations and clinical care, and documents.
- Assists providers with procedures, performs patient discharges and verifies communication of instructions with patient and family.
- Maintains assigned work area with supplies and equipment, cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms, procedure rooms, instruments and equipment, transports patients safely.
- Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT), documents and reports clinical findings to Registered Nurse (RN) in charge and/or Provider.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Functions within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Supports the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions. Communicates effectively, written and verbally.
- Possesses analytical thinking this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Participates as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient.
- Meets all training and competency requirements.
