Job Purpose

Starting at $20/hour. Looking for something different? Our wire shop specializes in wiring and assembling custom control panels and equipment houses (bungalows) for both Class 1 and passenger railroad signal systems. This position involves following client specifications to accurately assemble and test components that will be utilized on railroad properties. These tasks are completed within a warehouse and not on-site. This is a unique opportunity providing critical equipment to the rail industry.

Key Job Elements

Assembles, wires, and performs quality control checks on custom control panels, cables, and equipment houses as they relate to the railroads. Work inside the bungalows (stainless sheds you see along the railroad tracks) in a warehouse environment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Prefer experience with reading and interpreting wiring diagrams;
• Experience using power tools;
• Experience with light assembly;
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs;
• Shipping/Receiving experience;
• Forklift operation;
• Positive work ethic and ability to work individually and in a team setting;
• Strong attention to detail is critical.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions

• Strength – Position requires lifting up to 50 lbs. Lifting above 50 pounds may be required with the use of team lift or other lifting devices. Requires stamina and strength to work in tight and confined spaces;
• Motion – Position requires the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, reaching, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and kneeling. Position requires remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements –The position requires the ability to read written instruction and understand both verbal and written instructions. Strong hand – eye coordination is needed;
• Work Environment – Position is in a temperature-controlled environment. Occasional work in a non-temperature controlled dock/warehouse.
• Emotional Demands – Employee is expected to work and cooperate as part of a team in order to meet production requirements;
• Safety – Position requires strict adherence to safety policies and use of all required PPE.
