Purpose & Scope of Position

Engineering Manager (EM) is responsible for engineering and design matters on the project and assists the project manager. An EM will fill 3 main roles during the execution of a project. These are Manager, Technical Leader and Communicator. The EM on a project is responsible for scope definition and manages the planning, resourcing and scheduling all the engineering related activities. In addition, the EM provides technical leadership, integrates the disciplines and resolves issues. The EM is responsible for delivery of all the technical deliverables to achieve the project objectives within the specified time frame and budget.

Min. Qualification: BE/BTech in Mechanical or Chemical | Full-time | AICTE/UGC Approved University

 

Soft Skills: Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills

 

Specialization (Not mandatory): ME/MTech/Course in Piping or Post graduation in Piping

Qualification

• Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline • Registration as a professional engineer with the governing authority (preferable)

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Piping Lead Engineer for the project, managing the full lifecycle of piping activities.
  • Plan, monitor, and execute piping deliverables in alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders including clients, inter-discipline teams, area engineers, and site personnel.
  • Review and ensure inter-disciplinary checks of engineering deliverables.
  • Finalize piperack layouts and sections through detailed planning and review.
  • Prepare key documents: Piping Design Basis, Model Review Procedure, Painting & Insulation Specs, PMS, VMS.
  • Review and verify technical specifications (MR) for piping, fittings, valves, and specialties.
  • Prepare piping fabrication and erection tenders; conduct technical bid evaluations.
  • Review and verify vendor drawings and TBEs for piping components.
  • Present 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews (internal and external); resolve tags with clients.
  • Review inter-disciplinary vendor drawings to ensure piping interface consistency.
  • Coordinate and check Process P&IDs, Vendor GAs, and Structural GAs.
  • Issue equipment layouts and IFC piping layouts per project schedule with quality assurance.
  • Develop equipment erection plans and layouts.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, tie-ins, and site visits.
  • Support cost estimation during FEED and tender preparation phases.

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 for process piping.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, API, MSS SP, and IS standards.
  • Understanding of statutory codes like IBR, OISD, etc.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office tools.
  • Interdisciplinary coordination and understanding.
  • Experience in equipment layout preparation and plot plan development.
  • Proficient in preparing piping material specifications.
  • Skilled in valve and specialty datasheet preparation.
  • Awareness of 3D modeling tools and concepts.
  • Proficient in 3D review software (e.g., Navisworks).
  • Capable of reviewing and verifying piping layouts and isometrics.
  • Familiarity with piping stress analysis concepts.
  • Understanding of construction sequence and erection methodology.
