The Role

We’re looking for a Design Manager with a proven track record of designing successful bid stage (and beyond) propositions for high-quality, high-rise residential developments in London. You’ll be developing our pipeline of future schemes – all in London, but each unique. It’s a great time to join our business – our pipeline is growing, our unique culture is deepening, and our partners are entrusting us with their estate transformation projects, which we treat with the utmost care.

You’ll need at least five years post-Part 3 experience and worked on RIBA Stages 0–3 on high rise, high end projects in London. You’ll be able to challenge constructively, run feasibility studies, and thrive in a positive, solutions focused team of 3 where reputation and quality count.

In this role you’ll create compelling designs for each site collaborating with sales, marketing and delivery whilst learning about the cost and logistics of a scheme. This is a hands-on role, generating ideas, drawing and delivering. We like to iterate and constantly improve, so there’ll be ongoing optioneering, crafting layouts that stand out, and balancing all the complexities of London developments. You’ll work closely with our Development Directors to review and assess scheme designs, get hands-on with planning applications and refine layouts so they’re perfect for residents.

Ours is a high-performance culture. High performance in this role means you’ll be confident, persuasive, and commercially savvy—backing your ideas, discussing them effectively, and always mindful of constraints. You’ll challenge norms, add value, and influence design at every stage. You’ll also be resilient, open to feedback, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and confident taking ownership and responsibility.

This is a culture where you’ll be giving and getting feedback from day one, because we think it’s the fastest way to learn and to build trust. We want to be challenged by you, too – we hate unnecessary hierarchy and “my way or the highway” has no place here.

So, if shaping London’s communities appeals to you and you can see yourself growing in an environment where you’ll love the work and love who you’re becoming as you do it - apply now!

Mount Anvil

What we do: We’ve worked in partnership for 33 years to create outstanding places in London. We’re growing, with our construction turnover doubling, and with a pipeline of new projects where we’re raring to get started and make a difference.

Why we’re here: We’re here to pursue better, differently.

Better: One of The Sunday Times’ “100 Best Small Companies to Work For” for over a decade, winner of multiple Pride In The Job and WhatHouse awards for our people and the quality of our homes, and proud to have the nation’s best site in our ranks (winning the highest possible marks across the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s five areas – the first site ever to do so in 22 years of the CCS).

Differently:  Our culture is unusual. Different means more transparent with information. More direct with feedback that helps us all grow. More rigorous about setting goals, then giving more freedom to go and achieve them. It’s definitely not for everyone. We don’t hire know-it-alls, we hire “learn-it-alls”.  As our CEO, Killian, says: “We work hard to find people who thrive on context and responsibility, rather than rules and procedures. We then work like owner managers, not a leader and a load of helpers.

Benefits:

Private medical insurance for you and your family through Vitality (including discounts on spa breaks, cinema tickets and your food shopping, free Starbucks, 50% off Virgin Active Membership and more).

Income Protection Insurance to help you cope financially if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury, Life Assurance equivalent to four times your salary, your annual leave & Bank Holidays, enhanced maternity and paternity leave and workplace nursery salary sacrifice, allowing you to save tax and NI on monthly nursery fees.

We think the best benefit of being here is the learning culture and the ability to make a real difference – we dislike hierarchy and politics, and “not my job” isn’t in our vernacular. Which means if you really care about raising the bar and really want to feel connected to the end product, as opposed to like a cog in a big machine, this could be the place for you to grow your career.
